Misconception: Resistance Training stunts growth.
Fact: No evidence supports this. Resistance training may actually increase the bone strength of children and reduce their risk of developing osteoporosis later in life.
Misconception: This is way too young to lift weights.
Fact: If a child is ready to play a sport, then he or she is ready to resistance train.
Misconception: Body weight exercises are better for kids.
Fact: With a certified instructor supervising, different modes of resistance training add variety, can be adjusted to the child’s ability, and can more easily be progressed.
